This category included various well established five plate water ionizers and some of the newer units trying to gain a foothold in the market. The five plate water ionizer has been the industry standard for many years, and continues to be the machine of choice in Asia, where soft water conditions are predominant. The units perform well, and offer the basic requirements needed by the average consumer. The basic needs included the ability to produce ionized water that ranged from ideal alkaline water for drinking (pH of 9.5 ) to mild acidic water for use on the skin (pH 5.5). The prices of some of the newly introduced five plate ionizers has dropped significantly this year, following the introduction of the seven plate water ionizers in 2008, and the big winner is the consumer.
Our choice for the BEST ENTRY LEVEL WATER IONIZER is the Jupiter Venus. This machine ended up being a new entry to Canada, but a well established unit in Asia. The Jupiter Venus has been around for six years, but has recently been upgraded and introduced to our market. Jupiter has been around for nearly 30 years and they have a good reputation for service and reliability. The Venus offers good performance and has excellent adjustability with its new flow control valve and adjustable power settings. At a price of $1,195, the Venus was the clear cut winner of the entry level water ionizer.
Honourable mention goes to the Chanson 5 plate Violet unit, which sells for $1,395. The violet actually produced superior acidic output to the Jupiter Venus, so it would be our choice if stronger acidic water is required for cleaning purposes.
