Water Ionizer Buyer’s Guide

1. Entry Level

When you have a good source water and a limited budget, an entry level unit is a good choice

2. Standard 7 Plate

Seven plate units offer a greater range of performance especially in hard water conditions

3. Under Counter

Under Counter units offer the visual appeal of being hidden away and not taking up counter space

4. SUPER

STRONG acidic water for disinfecting and STRONG alkaline water for removing chemicals from fruits and vegetables

Water HealthCare Inc. has gone to great lengths to research the leading products, and many of the lesser known brands. When we say we have researched the market, we don’t mean just watching the review sites on the internet, or reprinting the information supplied by the manufacturers.

After much consideration, we created four water ionizer categories above, Entry Level, Standard 7 Plate, Under Counter, and SUPER.

We didn’t feel comfortable recommending products based upon review sites that are obviously not independent. We also found it difficult to determine the relevance or importance of the following factors:

  • plates: size, number, and solid vs slotted vs mesh
  • power as measured in watts and amps
  • number and contents of the filters
  • water flow and volume capabilities
  • chemical additives: are they necessary, or harmful?

We decided that the only way to determine which machines actually offered the best value was to get to work instead of relying upon others.

Our research includes the following:

  • We called the Presidents of the companies to gain a feel for their commitment to the advancement of the industry and helping people
  • We talked to dealers who handle the products in order to determine whether they were happy with the products
  • We talked to customers to ask them to evaluate their machines
  • We tested the machines ourselves to determine the following:
  • actual output versus advertised output
  • ease of use
  • reliability
